President Galvano Appoints Toni Azinger to the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking Direct-Support Organization Board of Directors

Tallahassee —

Florida Senate President Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton) today announced the appointment of Ms. Toni Azinger of Bradenton to represent the Senate on the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking Direct-Support Organization Board of Directors.

“Human trafficking is a plague on our society, with wide-ranging impacts to communities and families across our state. Toni has a passion for helping children who have been victimized by this form of modern-day slavery. Additionally, for the last decade, Toni has held leadership roles in organizations that raise funds to support victims of human trafficking who are rebuilding their lives in our communities. I am honored that Toni will represent the Senate on this important Board,” said President Galvano.

House Bill 851, sponsored in the Senate by Senator Lauren Book (D-Plantation), requires the Department of Legal Affairs to establish the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking Direct-Support Organization to provide assistance, funding, and support to the Council and to assist in the fulfillment of the council's purposes. In addition to the appointment of Ms. Azinger, President Galvano previously appointed Senator Book and former Senator Ellyn Bogdanoff to represent the Senate on the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking Direct-Support Organization Board of Directors.

A direct-support organization is a non-profit organization authorized by statute to carry out specific tasks in support of a public entity or public cause.
