Locking machine; returning write-in ballots.

1101.56  Locking machine; returning write-in ballots.--The election officers shall, as soon as the count is completed and ascertained, lock the counter compartment of the machine, and it shall so remain for a period of not less than 10 days, unless another election is to be held within 3 weeks, in which event the machine shall remain locked for 5 days, except in either event it may be opened by the canvassing board or by order of a court of competent jurisdiction. Whenever write-in ballots have been cast and counted by the election officers, the election officers shall return such ballots in a secured package labeled "write-in ballots" and file such package with the original statement of the result of the election made by them.
