Intensive Budget Review

Senate President Don Gaetz (R-Niceville) and Senator Joe Negron (R-Stuart), Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, have asked leaders of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittees to conduct an intensive budget review leading up to the production of the 2013-2014 General Appropriations Act, including a close review of all recurring Local Funding Initiatives to ensure that the state is getting a good return based on the realities of today's economy.

Budget subcommittees will conduct the review during the weeks of Dec 3. 2012, Jan. 14, Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 11 and Feb. 18 and will accomplish the following:

  • Provide an overview of the state agencies under their jurisdiction and review of base budget information.
  • Review agencies' Legislative Budget Requests, including requests for new funding and recommendations for budget reductions.
  • Seek testimony from state agencies on performance evaluations conducted on all recurring Local Funding Initiatives.
  • Review the Governor's Recommended Budget.
